{comforting complacency i} was written by james. previous to this song, david at least had a hand in all writing in the band, but this song marked the first one to be exclusively written by someone other than him. it is easily the hardest song to play off the album and was the most re-recorded song off the entire album. david was in a huge amount of pain following the recording of this song because he doesn't play guitar often enough and is very out of shape in general.
