{comforting complacency ii} was more or less written just as a transition for live shows. to keep the transition interesting on the album, david had the idea to play the transition backwards and then later reverse the track so it still maintains the correct crescendo-ing momentum, but is sonically more interesting. it was a weird idea that no one thought would work, but it turned out way better than the band was expecting.
